Abby was spotted by the Quantas search plane. In addition, they had very brief communication with her. They commented that she's in good spirits and not injured. She's still in very rough seas with high winds and rescue boats are still very far away.What this means is she's still in a very serious situation. Her demasted boat is at the mercy of these seas and wind. They did not comment on whether or not her motor was functional which would give her some ability to control the attitude of the boat heading into swells. Without the motor or sails there is great risk of being rolled or worse submerged and sunk.
Even with this potential danger it is great news that she's well and rescue vessels are en route.
