It's been a bit over a year since the purchase of Bella. What a great year it's been too. So many great sailing experiences and adventures. We recently added kayaks to the mix and have found the fun doesn't have to stop when the sailing stops. In fact, the kayaks
have taught us the fun is just beginning once you arrive at your destination.Sometimes, the destination is nowhere! With limited time, energy or a holiday crowed Catalina, the destination might be sailing along the Long Beach coast and enjoying the local attractions. Two of these
attractions are the walking and biking paths and the beach. So, yesterday we took the first of two steps to make sure we enjoy these attractions when our sailing destination is nowhere.
Bike paths and beaches were made for beach cruisers.
Or is it the other way around? Not sure which came first, however as long as all are present great fun is guaranteed. So after we completed the required "where's the best deal" research we headed out to Chubby's Cruisers. Once at Chubby's each of us selected
our dream-ride from a showroom of nearly three hundred cruisers.Dani immediately selected the "Orange Creme Sickle". A traditional orange cruiser with a white seat, whitewall tires, and the optional white wire basket. Lisa took a bit longer and chose the "Blue Hawaiian", a classic dark blue metallic cruiser with white Hawaiian flowers in trim. I took the longest but finally found the one of a kind
"Rumble". The Rumble has an over-sized traditional style frame which sits proudly atop the non-traditional 29 inch over-sized wheels. A big bike for a big boy.For Dani the best part of getting a beach cruiser was coming home and riding with her BFF Holly and her "Cotton Candy" cruiser.
What's the second step? Traditional roller skates. No really, roller skates. Yeah, some might suggest the traditional roller skate has been replaced by the "rollerblade". Nah, new doesn't necessarily mean better. If new meant better there wouldn't be beach cruisers or sailboats. Long live the traditional!

I love my shiny new Midnight Blue Bike. The only tricky part so far has been no handbrake. I am needing to retrain my mind. As far as the roller skates go I'm with you all the way. Down with roller blades. I think we just like the wind in our hair--bikes, skates, or sailing.
that looks like a lot of fun. all set and ready to go for the beach!
Aye Matey, speak yer mind!
